A Fresh Brewed Life

For my first review I read the book A Fresh Brewed Life by Nicole Johnson.

While I see how this book could be very beneficial for some, I just couldn't connect with this author. I didn't care for her writing style or the way she described things. But I think that an author's voice is received differently by all readers. So I recommend using the "take a look inside" feature when ordering this book online.

Some things that I did like about the book, however, were the "fresh brewed adventures" and "directed journaling". keeping a journal I think is a great way to sort your thoughts and get things out that you might even be afraid to say aloud.

Another aspect of the book that did work for me was the discussion of a tv commercial where the phrase "don't hate me because I'm beautiful" was introduced. I think most women can understand Johnson's views on that topic, and how it affects most women.

A third thing that worked is the discussion questions at the end of the book. I thought the questions were good at helping the reader to dig a little bit deeper. But unfortunately it was a struggle to get to the end.

Over all I would say this book was just ok.

I received this book free from the publisher through the BookSneeze®.com book review bloggers program. I was not required to write a positive review. The opinions I have expressed are my own.
